The Summit County Geographic Information System (G.I.S.) project began in 1994 as a cooperative project among the offices of the Summit County Engineer, Auditor (now called the Fiscal Office), and Executive. All federal, regional, state, and local agencies are eligible to participate in G.I.S. data sharing. Those local utilities and governments who have signed data sharing agreements have free access to all the G.I.S. data in its native digital form.
