Summit County Engineer Alan Brubaker, P.E., P.S., joins Twitter revolution

Akron, Ohio – Alan Brubaker, P.E., P.S., Summit County Engineer announced that his office will be the first County Engineer’s office in Ohio, and possibly the country, to use the social networking website Twitter to communicate with residents. Twitter users in Summit County will receive “tweets” regarding traffic advisories, road closings, and construction updates in real time. 

“We are doing our best at the Summit County Engineer’s office to efficiently utilize new technologies to the residents’ advantage. I am looking forward to finding out how Twitter can change the landscape of disseminating information to the public,” said Engineer Brubaker, whose username is “SummitEngineer”. The Engineer’s office has already sent out eight updates regarding lane restrictions and road closings. 

 
Twitter is a social networking site and micro-blogging service that allows its users to send updates known as “tweets” in real time.
