Akron, OH – Summit County Engineer Alan Brubaker, PE, PS would like to alert residents and motorists of an upcoming forty-five-day closure of the Riverview Road Bridge over Yellow Creek starting Monday, October 8th. The bridge is located just north of the West Bath Road intersection, on the border of Akron and Cuyahoga Falls. The closure is necessary for a scour mitigation project to protect the 191-year-old stone arch bridge. The Riverview Road Bridge over Yellow Creek is the oldest bridge owned and maintained by Summit County.

Lockhart Concrete is the contractor on the $239,000.00 project. Summit County has partnered with Cuyahoga Valley National Park on the bridge project, with each entity paying 50% of the construction costs.

The detour route will be posted. The detour route will involve Ira Road, Akron-Peninsula Road, and Merriman Road. All work is subject to inclement weather.
