Engineering Students Set to Compete: The 2025 Miniature Bridge Building Competition Is Just Two Weeks Away!

The excitement is building, literally! The Summit County Engineer’s Office is gearing up for the 24th annual Miniature Bridge Building Competition (MBBC), happening on Wednesday, February 12, 2025, at the Summit County Fairgrounds in Tallmadge, Ohio. This hands-on event is a celebration of creativity, teamwork, and engineering skills, showcasing the talents of high school students from across Summit County.
What Is the MBBC?
The Miniature Bridge Building Competition challenges student teams to design and construct model bridges using provided materials. Bridges are judged on structural efficiency, innovative design, and adherence to construction guidelines, with industry professionals evaluating the projects and providing invaluable mentorship to participants.
Who Will Be Competing?
Twenty-Seven teams, from eleven schools, each consisting of 2-3 students, are registered to compete. Each school may enter up to three teams. With the support of their educators, these students have spent weeks preparing for this exciting competition of ingenuity and problem-solving.
Why It Matters?
The MBBC provides a unique learning opportunity that brings engineering principles to life. Students develop critical thinking, problem-solving, and teamwork skills, all attributes that are essential not just in engineering, but in countless other professions. Additionally, participants have the chance to earn scholarships and connect with industry experts.
