Media Advisory: Sidewalk and Drive Apron Project to Begin April 21 on SR 18 and Cleveland Massillon Road
Apr 15, 2025 - Bath Township, OH
Summit County Engineer Alan Brubaker, P.E., P.S. would like to alert residents and motorists that Geauga Highway Construction, the contractor for upcoming infrastructure improvements around State Route 18 and Cleveland Massillon Road, will begin work on Monday, April 21, 2025. The project includes the installation of new sidewalks, drive aprons, and other miscellaneous improvements in the area surrounding the SR 18 and Cleveland Massillon Road intersection.
To ensure public and worker safety during construction, the following traffic impacts will be in effect from April 21 through May 5, 2025:
- SR 18 Curb Lane Closure: The curb lane on SR 18 will be closed from approximately 450 feet east of the Cleveland Massillon Road intersection to approximately 200 feet west of the intersection.
- This lane closure will be in place during active work hours (day and night) but will be removed at the conclusion of each workday.
- Cleveland Massillon Road Lane Closure: A separate closure will affect the southbound right-turn lane on Cleveland Massillon Road, beginning at SR 18 and extending approximately 400 feet north of the intersection.
- This closure will not be daily and will occur only when necessary, during the project timeline.
All drive entrances within the construction zones will remain accessible during the project; however, motorists may experience temporarily reduced widths.
Motorists are advised to exercise caution when traveling through the work zones and to allow for extra travel time. The Summit County Engineer’s Office appreciates the public’s patience and cooperation as these improvements are made.
