Summit County Engineer’s Office Spreads Holiday Cheer Through Giving
Dec 20, 2024 - Summit County, OH
The holiday season is a time for giving and coming together as a community, and the Summit County Engineer’s Office has proudly embraced this spirit of generosity. This year, the office participated in two impactful programs to help brighten the lives of local children and families during the holidays.
The Summit County Engineer’s Office made their annual Adopt-A-Family program contribution partnering with Summit County Children Services (SCCS), which matches donors with children and families in need. This program ensures that the holidays are joyous and memorable for the children served by SCCS. By adopting families, donors provide much-needed gifts based on personalized wish lists, making this season extra special for each recipient.
“We are honored to support the Adopt-A-Family Program and help bring joy to children and families during the holiday season,” said Alan Brubaker, P.E., P.S., Summit County Engineer. “With a dedicated team of 100 employees, our office is committed to giving back to the community that we serve.”
In addition to supporting the Adopt-A-Family program, The Summit County Engineer’s Office staff recently supported the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Northeast Ohio (RMHC NEO) by collecting nearly two pounds of aluminum pop tabs over five weeks. These tabs, made of recyclable aluminum, are transformed into funds through a partnership with a local recycler, with the monetary value determined by the current market rate for scrap aluminum. It takes about 1,000 tabs to equal just one pound of aluminum.
“We’re proud to help and hope our contributions inspire others to join these important causes. Our office remains committed to making a difference in the community it serves, both on and off the road.” said Summit County Engineer Alan Brubaker, P.E., P.S.
RMHC NEO collect tabs from soda, soup, pet food, and other canned goods to contribute to the RMHC NEO Family Fund. This fund supports families staying at the Akron Ronald McDonald House, offering special moments of normalcy and joy, such as birthday gifts, trips to the hair salon, and anniversary dinners. “Every tab pulled represents an act of kindness that helps inspire hope when and where families need it most,” according to Judy Hubbard, RMHC NEO Chief Operating Officer.
